Hi Annette, if this is the type of yeast you used, I suspect that the high activity of this particular instant yeast led to more rapid fermentation, which might have been exacerbated by the warmer environment of the bread machine. While not necessarily a bad thing, this could contribute to a more yeasty flavor, or even an alcohol flavor (which is a byproduct of fermentation) in the final product. Assuming you're using the recommended amount of yeast, we haven't noticed this result when using the SAF Red Instant Yeast, although often a bread machine recipe will call for a little less yeast than a regular bread recipe.
