Hi, Joanne! Lactation cookies often call for brewer's yeast because it is said to aid in milk production, rather than because it is needed for leavening. Feel free to eliminate the yeast altogether, the cookies will still be delicious and nutritious. (And congratulations on the new addition to your family!)
