Sadly, I found out yesterday that yeast has become the new "toilet paper" with regards to its scarcity on the grocery shelves. I wanted to start making bread during our social distancing, but had to go to 4 stores before I found any yeast. The only available was a brand called "Instant Success". I grabbed it, not knowing exactly what kind it was. After doing a lot of searching, I realize that there is a "silver" variety, and a "gold" variety. I happen to have bought the silver. Now I see that for this particular brand, it is the kind for sweet bread making. I am so discouraged after reading these comments. Should I even attempt to make regular (non-sweet) bread now? Will it not turn out at all, or will it just rise less? As someone new to bread baking would I even notice the difference?
