Hi Judi — you're close! (There's a LOT covered in this article.) You're correct that we don't carry SAF Purple. Both SAF Red and Gold likely won't work very well after they've passed their best-buy date, no more in one than the other, but keeping them in the freezer will extend their shelf significantly. Yeast can be kept in the pantry or fridge, but it will last longest and stay the freshest if stored in the freezer. We hope this helps! Annabelle@KAF
