Hi Melanie! These certainly are beautiful cookie molds. Springerle molds are pressed onto doughs that have been rolled out. For most recipes, you will roll your dough out to about 1/4 inch thick. Then, you can brush a very light coating of flour onto the dough and your springerle mold. Press the mold firmly into the dough, then remove and cut around the design with a knife or a fluted pastry wheel.
