Hi Art, thanks for your thoughtful suggestions when it comes to adding steam to your bread baking. Covering the glass in your oven door with a towel is definitely a great safety precaution that should be added to everyone's steaming routine! I've updated this post to include this warning. I've never had a problem with the pan being placed below the stone, as long as both are preheated for at least an hour.
