Barb at King Arthur October 20, 2017 at 8:17am In reply to What does “thermal shock” for a cold loaf do to the loaf/ look … by Anna (not verified) Hi Anna, thermal shock won't harm the loaf itself, but some baking vessels don't adjust well when taken rapidly from one temperature to another (cold to hot, or hot to cold), and this thermal shock can damage the pot.
