Angela, it isn't easy! I try to pick a pot size that isn't too large for the size loaf I'm baking. Usually a 3-4 quart Dutch oven works well for 2-2 1/2 pounds of dough). And using a straight cut rather than an angled cut is easier because you don't have to get your wrist as far into the pot.
