Hi Ana, I'm sorry we weren't able to respond to your question in a more timely fashion, and hope your rolls still turned out beautifully! If the rolls hadn't risen at all, it seems like you might have been okay letting them rise for longer, but it does sound like something might have been going on with your yeast if there wasn't any rise after 6 hours at room temperature. If the rolls were partially risen, sticking them in the refrigerator until you returned might have been the way to go.
