Hi Nancy, this batter shouldn't be terribly thick, it sounds like you may have added a bit too much flour to the recipe, which is easy to do if you tend to measure your flour by cups, and scoop the flour into the cup. For our flours and recipes we recommend either weighing your ingredients, or using this method to measure your flour by cups.
