Susa, if you use self-rising flour instead of all-purpose in a recipe that doesn't call for salt or leavener, it will change the texture quite a bit (and also have a slightly salty taste). It will rise some while it's in the oven and might be a bit lighter. You also may like the texture of our Golden Vanilla Pound Cake recipe--it uses our all-purpose flour, but it also has a bit of baking powder added to it to give it a slight lift. Happy baking!
