There are two rules at play here. The first is about feeding sourdough starter, which you feed with 4 ounces or 1/2 cup water and 4 ounces or 1 cup flour. The second is that if you're using some of your discard starter to give a yeast bread recipe flavor, substitute 1 cup sourdough starter for 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup water in the recipe.
