Hi Annette, this may be due to the way you're measuring your flour. If you're scooping your flour directly into the measuring cup, it's likely compacting into the cup and too much is being used. This can make the batter heavy and thick. To ensure you're measuring out the right amount, we recommend either measuring by weight using a scale or fluffing and sprinkling your flour into the measuring cup like this. Using either of these approaches should ensure the batter has just the right consistency. Happy baking! Kye@KAF
