Hi there, Anna! We haven't tried it before, but you could experiment a bit use cherry compote if you'd like. You'll want to make sure that the cherries don't get shriveled up too much from being cooked twice (once to make the compote and then again when the pie gets baked) or they will shrink and make for an unlevel pie.
