Hi Carla, For gift giving, I like to use pasta that's just flour and water, no egg. Orecchiette is an excellent choice, it contains AP flour, semolina and water, that's it. Plus one recipe makes TONS! Once dried, you can place them in the jars you can put a little fabric topper and then screw down the lid, like for fancy jams. It makes a great presentation and will last 4-6 weeks on the shelf. Happy pasta making! ~MJ
