For non-organic wheat, glyphosate is federally approved for use by farmers with the requirement that any application must comply with its regulatory approval. If used, residual glyphosate levels in wheat should remain below the federally mandated level for wheat of 30 parts per million. Our milling partners purchase grain on King Arthur Baking's behalf, and it's either analyzed by state grades or upon receipt for compliance with grain grading standards.

Our goal is and has always been to provide the very best flour available. That means it should be made from the best resources we can bring together to meet the needs of our customers and our team of bakers who use it day after day.

King Arthur Baking has long been a participant in improving the food systems we operate in. As just one example, we’re making big investments in the future of organic farming — supporting work by the Breadlab in Washington State as they use traditional breeding methods to introduce resilient, more productive varieties of organic wheat. The goal being to increase wheat crops whose survival doesn’t hinge on protection from synthetic inputs, which are generally prohibited in organic. We believe that if farmers have lower risk, financially sound options for growing wheat that’s naturally protected against pests, fungus, excess moisture, and other hazards without having to lean on synthetic substances, many will take it. If nothing else, reducing inputs is kinder to our planet’s soil.

We’re voluntarily and intentionally finding ways to reduce inputs on wheat so that we can reinforce a future with thriving farmland and that ever-improves on our mission to spread joy through baking.
