Hi Linda! You’re correct that glyphosate is prohibited from use on our full line of certified organic flours, and are glad to know that you’re taking them into consideration as an option.
Please know that when it comes to organic, a residue limit of 1.5 parts per million of glyphosate is set by the USDA (just 5% of the EPA’s limit for tolerance in cases where glyphosate would be directly applied to a crop). This is to account for the possibility of unintended, trace contact despite all standards and procedures being strictly upheld. As such, we’re simply unable to offer a guarantee against trace contact ever taking place. King Arthur flour utilizes Quality Assurance International (QAI) to independently verify that the organic wheat grown and milled into our flour passes the rigorous standards required to be recognized as certified organic. Whenever customers have concerns about whether a product is right for them, we always recommend seeking guidance from a doctor or dietician.
We hope you do make it our way before long, and that we soon enough find ourselves baking alongside you in one of our Baking School’s popular classes!
