The standard American practice for non organic wheat (since GMO wheat is no longer officially grown in the United States) is to continue to use glysophates but when crop plants are not engineered to be resistant to these toxic herbicides, the plants die from exposure. This is the intended and labeled purpose of chemical formulas such as roundup: to kill plants. The original intended purpose was to kill the weeds, not the crop plants. Wheat and corn and soy where genetically engineered for the purpose of making them resistant to these herbicides so that only the weeds would die . But since we grown in the United States is officially no longer genetically engineered , application of herbicides to wheat crops clearly and consistently kills the wheat itself. This may seem odd for a farmer to want to kill their own crops all at once and quickly. But the current practice in over 90 percent of non-organic wheat harvest is to apply herbacides toxic both to wheat and to people in order to increase yield and drying efficiency. Neither of these are federally approved uses for these toxic chemicals. 30 parts per million of glyphosate is a lot, by the way. They're speed-ripening and killing the wheat. This process is often hidden as part of the drying part also called desiccation. I applaud this company's desire to teach future Generations how to take care of each other. I hope that King Arthur Mills continue to be leaders in growing high quality standards, and not only for the customers who can afford who can afford to pay for organic.
