omgosh... ive been wondering why my brownies looked dull as well when the very first time i made them, it had that wonderful beautiful shiny crackly crust. Then i omitted the chocolate chips (like you said, to save money *facepalm*) and it became dull, flat and completely unappetizing looking. i never put two and two together!!! thank you so much for this!
