Hate chocolate chips in your brownies? You can try chopping up the chips before adding them to the batter; they'll mostly melt so you won't notice they're there, but they should still work their shiny-topped magic. If it's the flavor you don't like, that you can try heating the butter and sugar together until the sugar dissolves before adding the other ingredients in the recipe.
