Hi Mical! We're glad to hear that you enjoyed this cake but are sorry that it didn't turn out quite as expected. Just as you've suggested, we'd recommend melting the butter and then swirling it in the pan before sprinkling in the sugar. This will help the coating stick to the cake rather than the pan.
