Hi Dionne, we haven't tried using granulated sugar in this recipe ourselves, but if you want to give it a try, you could melt about 1/2 cup of sugar with some of the non-dairy milk, then let it come to room temperature before adding it to the ice cream maker. You could also consider making a simple syrup, which is equal parts sugar and water and then adding that to the non-dairy milk base. The latter option may give you a more pleasant texture in the ice cream, as the granulated sugar may harden once added to the machine. If you try it out, we'd love to hear how it goes! Mollie@KAF
