I did this decades ago and shared it with anyone who asked for some. I sent it to many states and even some foreign countries.
I always powdered the dried starter in a spice grinder and then stored it in small plastic baggies.
I stopped sharing it when it became very questionable to send "white powder" in the mail!
I may start drying it again.
