A few months ago I revived a starter from a tiny scrap (much smaller than fingernail size) of dried starter that I found in the original package in which it was delivered. It is now a healthy and flavourful starter...after being dormant for twenty years! It was the "1847 Oregon Trail" starter bought from "Carl's Friends" in 2001.
