Hi there, Pam! As long as your starter is bubbling and growing in size within 6 to 8 hours of being fed, it doesn't sound like you did anything wrong. After fermenting, the starter should be the consistency of thick pancake batter but if it is thicker that is OK, it should work itself out after a couple of feedings. Kindly, Morgan@KAF
