I just baked something with a WONDERFUL sourdough that I just lucked into (I didn't even think you could capture wild yeast in winter). It's my second try at sourdough. My first try never did develop into something really tasty. I'm from the San Franciscan Bay Area and grew up on the local 'French bread' sourdough, and would love something that tastes like that. Well, I seem to have got it - or even something better: the smell coming from my kitchen is mouth-watering right now. I definitely want to keep this starter, came online to look up drying it and am so happy to see KA instructions, step by step. First click got me to the people I trust most when it comes to baking. I'm definitely going to dry and save this starter. It makes the BEST-tasting homemade bread I've ever made, and I've been making bread for some 40 years or more.
