If it works for you, it works for you.
But while corn starch is a good substitute for potato starch, it isn't for potato flour.
As a substitute for potato flour, either weigh out the same amount of potato flakes, the type used to make instant mashed potatoes, or, if you're going by volume measurements, put the flakes into a food processor and turn them into a powder.
