Our family started in Vermont but I moved around and married a guy from Lana'i whose Dad was the manager of the pineapple harvest and whose brother was a baker at King's Bakery. As a result, I'm very familiar with both the fruit and the bread (which in Hawaii is called Portuguese Sweet Bread). Hubby and I moved to Vermont recently and miss some familiar things--so thanks very much for this recipe. Cannot wait to try it.
