Hi there, Pat! Usually, if a cookie has a cakey texture, it has more to do with what ingredients were used than how the cookie was scooped. For example, adding a couple of tablespoons of milk to your cookie dough will give you a cakier, taller cookie. The recipe we used in this article, Chocolate Chip Cookies, makes a flatter cookie with crisp edges. If you chilled or froze your scooped cookies before baking, you may want to flatten them a bit before baking to help encourage them to spread outwards. We hope this helps! Kindly, Morgan@KAF
