Oh no, Lisa! What a huge bummer. One thing we find can help when either spoon scooping or cookie scoop scooping cold dough is to occasionally dip your spoon/scoop into warm water. This helps to both soften the dough and loosen it from the tool. Another alternative to scooping is to press your dough into a rectangle, use a bench knife to cut it into roughly even squares, and then roll the squares into balls. This doesn't keep your hands clean, but it can be an efficient way to get evenly sized and shaped cookies.
