This is a great tip and an excellent explanation (as always).
I've been using scoops for years to portion cookies, fill muffin/cupcake pans, for prettier presentations, etc.
In the beginning, I went through a number of scoops because the "scraper" part would break in very stiff cookie dough. The solution, finally, was finding a much better quality scoop.
