An 8x8 square pan is only 64 square inches, while a 9x13 is 117, so one 8x8 pan will only hold about half the batter. You could choose to make this in two 8x8 pans, however, and bake as suggested for the rounds/sheet cake. Happy baking! Mollie@KAF
