Mayo? yuck. I use real butter, even on a diet. Bread? Ah, who can top RYE? Cheese? While I'm open on this point, does anything truly top traditional Cheddar, Colby, mild/strong? I'm addicted to Muenster, and this makes a lovely sandwich also. Wondering if Havaarti would be up to the challenge. And partners? Never did pickles INSIDE, but do recommend some tomatoes, baby spinach and DEFINITELY sliced mushrooms! Foods for the gods. Electric stoves are a pain for grilled cheese, and I have to pre-heat cast iron before cooking, but a black iron pan is the Best. No one mentioned that, but the aluminum is yucky and the heavy stainless steel= passable. But for homemade memories? Cast iron ( Lodge or Wagner) is still the best w/a cup of onion, tomato, or hefty vegee on the side. Ahhh.
