My parents were married in 1940. My mother was a good cook, but at that point she was inexperienced. Apparently one of the few desserts she was confident in making was pineapple upside down cake. My father was appreciative, and he liked the cake. However, the story goes, after a steady repetition of pineapple upside down cake he finally asked if she would expand her dessert repertoire. I have a question. Can you use fresh pineapple in place of the canned pineapple and get satisfactory results?
