Received a Cuisinart compact bread maker for Christmas and after experimenting with a recipe that came with, I turned to KA and this post as well as the easy bread maker recipe. It came out perfectly. I was pleased to read that it's okay to raise the lid and check on the dough as I did want to make sure it wasn't too wet before it got too far along in the kneading/rising process. It was perfect, but I liked the reassurance of being able to do that.
I do agree with removing the paddle before the baking cycle as it's far easier. My BM notifies me at each cycle and let's me know the optimum time to remove the paddle. At that point, the dough has formed a 'skin' that makes it easy to pull away the paddle. Reshaping was not really necessary, and there is only a slight indentation in the finished loaf where the paddle was.
