Hi Margaret. If you're using the bread machine for the full cycle, including baking, changing one of the settings (usually in the manual) to create a softer crust may be an option. If you're going to bake the bread in your oven, you'll want to turn the machine off before taking it out so the paddles don't whack your fingers. Annabelle@KAF
