Hi Debbie, you're totally correct in observing that the recipe and blog present two different options for filling the cake. The recipe method will yield a thicker mass of filling, while the rolled method illustrated in the blog will yield a spiral of filling. Because there is a generous amount of filling, you'll see the filling with both methods, but the rolled filling will be a bit more evenly distributed.
