Sorry to hear it, fellow baker! We hope you were able to cover any blemishes with plenty of frosting and sprinkles. The dough should be quite soft and supple, making it relatively easy to pinch together the seam of your roll, but if your dough was drier than intended, this could make the roll more susceptible to splitting. Next time, we'd suggest measuring by weight or using the KAF method for measuring flour in order to achieve the desired dough consistency, pinch the seam fully, and bake seam side down.
