Well, It's now 2017 and the duel was in 2015. I am just discovering this site and could not help responding to Doris' post. I am a former teacher and if you were in my English composition class you would have an A+ for your creativity. I too have fond memories of my grandmother's biscuits. We were always so eager to eat them, no one bothered to see how she made them. Until one day I decided to video tape Big Mama making her utterly delicious biscuits. (along with the help of some cousins) Stopping her process to try and measure the ingredients proved to be not a good idea, but the video is hilarious and a great keepsake for her descendants. A few years ago I decided that I would master the art of making biscuits, but they all came out like hockey pucks! I have started the quest again and have had some good results. (so good that I've gained 2 pounds!) I'm reading every recipe I come across, trying to put the best ingredients and methods into the perfect biscuits that will simply make my family swoon. You offer some very good tips that I will incorporate into my methods. I will try your mom's recipe my next go round. Thank you for such a lovely and inspiring post!
