Thanks for such a fun and entertaining post! I made Doris' biscuits right away to go with our dinner. I confess to using all butter as I did not have shortening of any sort in the house and in spite of the change they were delicious. I'd like to state that just as she said, they are really good the next day sliced in half and toasted up in the toaster. I've had one for breakfast each of the last 3 mornings and they are golden and crispy toasted on the outside and soft and tender inside and very delicious. It's the first biscuit I've ever cared to eat a day or two old.
