I've made biscuits for years using my mother-in-law's recipe because it is so very simple to do and it uses 3/4 cup 1% milk mixed with 1/4 cup canola oil in a 425 oven and they are delicious but although they have baking powder & salt in them they do not rise much. She always poked them 3 times with a fork before placing in the oven. What could be the cause of them not rising and what do I need to do to change that?
