This is interesting. When I was baking more, I used to make sourdough bagels using a pretzel recipe. The bagel recipe just didn't taste like bagels while the pretzel dough did. Of course I dropped them into boiling/simmering water as that is what you are supposed to do with bagels. So I would guess that this mix should make great bagels as well, with the topping of your choice.
