at age 65, try as I might i simply cannot bake bread. It never stops me from trying but every time is an epic failure. My problem starts with the directive in the recipe regarding the rising of the dough. 'Let it rise 45 minute until double'. Well most of the time it hasn't risen at all or very little. Or, I get it to raise then put it in the pan and wait for the second rising and - nothing. I observe temperatures of liquid not to kill the yeast, I find a warm spot for the dough to rise, I don't add too much flour, honestly it is just beyond me to bake bread. I CAN however make fabulous tomato sauce, put up perfect peaches, applesauce, green beans, but I cannot make bread. Sigh........
