I use my Thermapen for baking and never regret the price. It is worth every penny. Body is plastic and you do have to care for it as in, not dropping, do not immerse in water. Thermapen has been used for years without a problem. I have used all sorts of thermometers but this is indeed the Rolls Royce in my view; you will not regret the purchase.
