My grandparents immigrated from Slovenia (previously Yugoslavia) and we had no 'cookbooks' to speak of. As referenced by other bloggers my grandma and my mom used their hands for weights and measure. I collect cookbooks (last count 456) and among them are several put out by KAF. I, too have the Fanny Farmer cookbook but can't relay the date as all our furniture is in storage at the present time. I love to bake, I taught cake decorating for 5 years while we were stationed in Havelock, NC. My mother helped me figure out her recipe for homemade yeast donuts, which my family loves. As she put items in her hand I would dump the handful into a measuring cup and I got a rough idea of the amount. To this day the only way my donuts come out like Mom's is to start with a 5# bag of KAF. LOL So I distribute lots of donuts to the neighbors.... Loved this blog and am looking forward to future stories and insights... Happy 225th Anniversary, keep up all the great products.
