Great post! I love learning about the history of everyday things--as mentioned above, a much better topic for history class than who won what battle when. Your post made me realize that I haven't bought unsweetened chocolate in a LONG time--my stash is still packages with individually wrapped 1 oz cubes that are eight to the box. I guess I don't make traditional brownies much... My chocolate recipes these days tend to call for bittersweet chocolate. Interesting shift.
