Monica, I too was married in 1971 and the 1965 edition of Fanny was one of the first cookbooks I purchased! It's recipe for brownies is one of the first things I baked from it and I still use that recipe today. The only change is for 2 eggs instead of 1, slightly more vanilla, and a 9 x 9 pan.
