I wasn't inspired to bake, not today, but I did dive into some of my antique cookbooks and learned a few things. One book "Mrs. Rorer's Cook Book" published in 1885 had several recipes with the more modern format. It was dedicated to Miss Eliza Turner, who founded Philadelphia's first cooking school. The other is "The Home Guide a Book by 500 Ladies" published by the Chicago Tribune in 1881 has the older format. Neither one has many cookie recipes, but lots of cakes and pies.
