I loved the pictures and in-depth explanations. One thing to point out: Most parchment papers are only rated safe to 420F, not 500-550F like you falsely claimed. The fact that yours turned black as soon as you placed it in the over is proof of that. I would have expected for someone posting on the King Arthur Blog to know that basic fact.
