Fiona, when we've checked before with Julia, who helped bring us this recipe, she's said that she wouldn't recommend making a double batch. In addition to issues with heating a larger volume of ingredients, this recipe makes a lot of molten liquid and doubling this quantity could be asking for trouble when it comes to handling.
